Only in Texas and O Happy Day News

Only in Texas:

Newspaper subscribers are about to receive Bibles with their papers. Yes, you read that correctly: Bibles. What do you think about that?

I find it silly, bordering on offensive, but this guy quoted in the story, does not:

"It's disappointing that anyone would object to getting a Bible, which is the best read book in the whole world and has been for hundreds of years. They have the right to do with it what they want to," he said. "Do they object to getting a bag of Quaker oatmeal or Tide detergent or an AOL disc?"
On a related note, this spoiler from Joshua Newman made me laugh.

A bible distribution related story...

I attended public school from grades K to 6. Every year the Gideons would come in and distribute copies of the New Testament to the students on the older grades (I think 4, 5 & 6).

In. A. Public. School.

This was, ironically, one of the many reasons my parents decided to pull us out of public school and enroll us in the Catholic Jr High and High school.

Yay Cubs! Boo Pirates management!

A bible with the Sunday paper? Some people just can't help pushing their religion on others, can they. That's why we need such strong laws regarding church and state - and I'm in favor of a religious harassment law, too, like the one they tried to pass several years ago.
